WWF WrestleMania Challenge (NES review)

Developer: Rare
Publisher: LJN
Released: 1990

WWF WrestleMania Challenge is a sports game that features nine playable characters.

+ Decent variety of moves are available and it's great that each wrestler has some unique attacks to differentiate them.

+ Two-player mode is enjoyable and the fact that you can both fight against yourselves or VS. the CPU is a nice touch.

+ The Survivor Series mode is a terrific addition that gets you thinking about the best ways to manage team stamina.

+ Sprites faithfully represent each wrestler and there's some excellent artwork on the title / roster selection screens.

-  The isometric viewpoint doesn't make it easy to corner an opponent and swiftly line up a rear attack.

- Wrestler's health is displayed on the ring apron, but the shifting camera doesn't always allow you to see these indicators.

- Leaping celebrations after a successful pin are ridiculous, especially when they involve 7' 4" Andre the Giant!
