New Ghostbusters II (NES review)

Developer: HAL Laboratory
Publisher: HAL Laboratory
Released: 1992

New Ghostbusters II is an action game that was only released in PAL regions.

+ A good range of enemies are on offer and their unique attack patterns keep you thinking about how to cautiously proceed.

+ Game always does a terrific job of guiding you so you're never unsure about where to go once the levels start to open up.

+ Stage design is top-notch and weaves you through the environments in an unconventional manner.

+ The mechanics behind capturing ghosts is a sheer delight and the SFX when you bag a large foe is addictive.

+ Learning how to use the scenery to your advantage is key and it's great fun sneaking in to capture a ghost.

- Game is short and although you can choose from all five Ghostbusters there's no strategic difference between them.

- Controls don't allow you to walk or shoot diagonally, which causes some cheap hits due to the rigid grid movement.
